Julie Weil is a sexual assault survivor and global activist from Florida who has used her voice to make change. Julie has devoted her life to being a champion for change in the way sexual assaults are treated in the system. After founding the Not Just Me Foundation to educate communities in 2010, Julie has been a part of lasting improvements at all levels. Locally, she inspired the creation of Butterfly House and Palm Beach County's forensic exam that supports through her charity along with sponsoring community awareness events. She has three pieces of legislation in the state of Florida pertaining to the rape kit backlog, include inventory, requiring mandatory testing of all kits, and mandating a tracking system. She spent over two years walking the steps of Capitol Hill and educating congressional office of clearing the national rape kit backlog through legislation. Her efforts helped to pass in February 2013, which is now a part of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). We are excited about this opportunity to hear Julie speak and tell her story.
