*Students will NOT be dismissed for lunch – Lunch will be provided by Wood River Police Department or students can bring their own.*

This training will provide an in-depth look at active shooter incidents. Students will become familiar with the proper response to an active shooter, different search techniques, and will participate in scenario/role playing exercises to demonstrate de-escalation and officer safety techniques.
At the end of this training, the attendee will be able to:
  1. Identify and discuss Rapid Response and Deployment Department Policy
  2. Identify procedures for active shooter response
  3. Demonstrate single officer and two-officer (team) search techniques
  4. Demonstrate proper radio and on-scene communications with arriving officers
  5. Demonstrate room entry techniques
  6. Demonstrate during scenario/role playing exercises officer safety techniques while team searching
  7. Demonstrate during scenario/role playing exercises de-escalation techniques while team searching

Required Equipment:  Department issued Uniform, Ballistic vest, Duty belt & Rifle and sling.
Suggested Equipment:  Water Bottle, Rifle Cleaning Rod.

PROHIBITED ITEMS:  Ammunition, Magazines – Rifle/Pistol
