This course will provide law enforcement officers with the necessary information to successfully seize and analyze Cell Phone data & iOS/Google Records. Students will be instructed on how to properly seize mobile phones and how to examine the data. Cell phone forensic extraction tools will be discussed along with instructions on how data is stored on a cell phone. The class will combine classroom lecture and practical exercises with forensic mapping software and Cellebrite phone extraction reports.
 
At the end of this unit the trainee will be able to:
  • Seize Mobile Phones properly.
  • Use Mobile Phone Forensic tools.
  • Understand the type of data that can be obtained from mobile phone extraction.
  • Understand digital data and how it is stored on mobile phones.
  • Understand Apple and Google device data and collection.
  • Use of geolocation data from third party apps and other data.
  • Proper use of Cellebrite to review phone data.
  • Demonstrate the use of Google Earth.
  • Demonstrate how to forensically map Apple iOS device location data.
  • Understand Google location data.
  • Demonstrate how to forensically map Google location data.
  • Understand Google Geofence location data.
  • Demonstrate how to forensically map Google Geofence location data.
