This day 2-day 16-hour course has been designed to train instructors to teach officers high risk patrol operations on high-risk traffic stops. The focus of this course is to provide instructors with the knowledge, specialized tactical skills, and associated training materials they will need to instruct officers on high-risk traffic stops.
Only by developing a systematic procedure to handle such situations, by training utilizing a stair step instructional platform, training safely and realistically and by ensuring that every member is proficient in the procedure, can this objective be accomplished.

Goals
  • To identify and discuss use-of-force and safety priority issues related to high-risk traffic stops, including immediate defense of life, law, police, procedure, and establishing safety priorities.
  • To provide students with an inventory of appropriate equipment to be used when conducting high-risk traffic stops, including issues related to weapons and ammunition selection.
  • To assist participants in teaching and demonstrating practical knowledge and performance ability while conducting high-risk traffic stops as well as movement formations, verbal skills, firearms handling/deployment skills, and working as a team.
  • To train instructors to conduct scenario-based training and demonstrate their ability to perform high-risk traffic stops.
  • To train instructors in the tactical skill sets necessary to teach, use of cover, vehicle stops, vehicle clearing, and arrest team tactics.
