This four-hour course will be an interactive training which enable Police Officers to provide lifesaving techniques to injured persons. Due to the short duration of the class, topics will only involve those that do the most good in a limited time space and will be serious injuries/illness that are commonly witnessed by police officers. Training will be composed of both lectures, with questions and answers, and minor practicals followed by instructor demonstration.
 
OUTLINE:
  • Identify life threatening illness/injuries.
  • Utilize self-aid/buddy-aid/and be familiar with “medicine across the barrier”.
  • Perform lifesaving medical techniques to stabilize patients until further help arrives.
  • Deploy Narcan to opioid overdoses.
  • Better communicate and work with local medical providers.
  • Understand the emergency medical service (EMS) and their needs.
