CANCELLED-8 Hour Post-Academy Vehicle Stop Fundamentals

This training will expand on the basic police academy concepts and principles of performing vehicle stops and will explore tactics which contribute to managing risk during high-threat stops.
 
COURSE TOPICS:

• Officers will review the fundamental concepts and principles of vehicle stops or occupied vehicle checks.
• Officers will consider options for squad car placement and use of lighting for optimal cover.
• Officers will consider options for safely approaching the violator vehicle and returning to squad car.
• Officers will analyze options for positioning during contact and for occupant control.
• Officers will review options for actions taken during the stop.
• Officers will demonstrate concepts learned through practical drills and vehicle stop related scenarios.
